The premise of the Music Export Memphis Ambassador program is pretty simple: we know that artists living in Memphis are already touring the country – sometimes the world – and sharing the Memphis music story.
So why not mobilize them as paid brand ambassadors?
When musicians from Memphis hit the stage each night at venues around the world, they’re letting every crowd know that they hail from Memphis, Tennessee. They’re playing for music lovers who might be interested in planning a trip to Memphis or may add Memphis to their list of cities for job searching after spending an evening with one of our artists.
As the music industry has evolved over the past few years, touring has become more necessary than ever for audience building and revenue generation. Supporting our artists as they tour is just one way we are working to make Memphis a city of choice for musicians.
Artists can apply for up to $1,500 in funding per tour, and artists who serve as Ambassadors on one tour are welcome to resubmit for future tours – we are happy to fund an artist or band up to two times per calendar year, with no lifetime limit. To be eligible, you just need 5 or more confirmed tour dates.
We also provide support to artists or music industry professionals interested in attending conferences of professional development events around the country through our Ambassador Industry Scholarships. These are competitive scholarships that cover the cost of a badge or pass to any industry conference.
