What it is: The MEM Merch Fund provides grants of up to $1,000 to artists or bands to produce merchandise with a Memphis-based business. Businesses who contribute $1,000 annually to Music Export Memphis become Merch Fund Preferred Partners.

Return on investment: Artists are incentivized to spend with you. Artist applicants using a Preferred Partner will unlock a higher amount of grant funding.

What’s “merch”? Do you produce tee shirts, koozies, stickers or other promotional products? That’s merch. What about CDs or vinyl? That counts, too! And if you’re a graphic designer whose art ends up on an album cover, poster or apparel – the grant can fund your work, as well.

The bottom line: Artists receiving Merch Fund grants are required to spend the funds in Memphis – and if there’s more in it for them if they select a MEM Preferred Partner. As a result, your investment in MEM comes back to you, stays in the city and helps to power this innovative new program.
